A Must for Performing Artists...

Picture_8

All too often, we find ourselves in a mess plugging in our cables and worse, wallwarts. We tend to then need either long ones plugged sideways or some sockets left unused coz some won't fit. This is where I find this very interesting and needed by most live PA acts. I actually got this shared by one Live PA as well. It makes things easier and by the shape of it, it's really easy to bring out to shows.

Now if only it were available locally...

UK label press release for my single :)

From the press release of the label

"Silverfilter ‘Disko Dive’ including remixes from Anarchy Rice and ACADA. Support from Far Too Loud, Access Denied, Ben & Lex, Hexadecimal, General MIDI, B Phreak, Neurodriver, Kickflip and more."

Click here to preview and buy now:

https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/con ... disko-dive

Hailing from the Philippines, Silverfilter has been given the nod with his track ‘Disko Dive’. Dirty ‘Flat Eric’ bass grooves cut against some deliciously soft focus synth layering. Fat breaks and euphoric fluffs galore.

On remix duties, Anarchy Rice cranks up the squelch factor with a bullish cut of leftfield breaks. Colossally thick bass revs garnished with a generous topping of bleeps, zaps and claps that’ll have your brain bouncing off the walls.

Completing the trio, The Sonic Deviant and Perpetual Present team up to form a new collaborative moniker – ACADA – and serve up a devilishly floor-crunching cocktail of tech-breaks, low slung rock plated basslines and a devious hit of heavy portamento at the last.

AP

“Wow. anarchy rice remix is total win!!!!” Far Too Loud

“Wow…flat beat bass, i like it! original and anarchy rice remix for me!” Access Denied

“Reeeeealy like this release. Proper fat chunky breaks action. Full support!! DISCO!!” Ben & Lex

“Very nice!” General MIDI

“I like the original mix, nice, will get some plays from me!” Hexadecimal

“Good trio of tracks here, nice one! Hard to pick a favourite…” Neurodriver

“Nice work on the Anarchy Rice remix!” Kickflip

My 1st International Chillout Track on Needwant Records UK

Fb2
It's such a blessing to have another release on a UK label. This time, under Needwant Records and it's a chillout tune!

I sent a demo to them and they liked it and so begins the story... I sent my tune out without any idea where it will go and now it's gaining momentum towards the release. It'll be available all over the world and there'll be a CD of the compilation too! I'm just so excited about it. I would've been quite happy actually just to be released digitally but a vinyl and CD release was way more than I expected... such a blessing indeed!

This is one of the nicest reviews I've read of my track on the compilation... heck, it's nice to know people dig my original tunes :)

Here's the announcement on Resident Advisor

Hope you can check it out once it comes out! I can't wait to get my copy of the CD from the label!!!

silverfilter live PA remix set Fete De La Musique 2011

187782_226789304016620_8208379_n

This was my set at Fete De La Musique 2011.

But I wanna talk more about how I got to making this.

I call it my best compromise for now because as much as I want to play out original stuff I've done, it's hard getting gigs locally as a live PA. I decided it would be fun to "sandwich" stuff I made as well as play around with some known tunes and have plain fun doing it. This is how I came up with this set of mine. It's a work in progress but I'm enjoying doing this now. I am hoping to improve on it more in the coming weeks :) All are live remixes I've done of the tunes you'll hear since it's a short set but for long sets, I'll have more original tunes of mine in between the remixes.

I have used Propellerhead Reason/Record to produce my lines and rearranged them for live use in Ableton live. I play out with an APC40, KP3 and a Pioneer EFX500. I'd integrate Maschine in the picture eventually but I'm still preparing that side of the set. Trying out this software hybrid set for now since I'm enjoying it now. Been doing all hardware for almost a decade so I'm having fun with the change at the moment until I save up for some Elektrons :)

Enjoy the music!

Sharing Is Fun...

I've decided to up my post count not to do "quantity" but to up the "quality" of what you guys get over here t my blog. I realized that I don't get to post that often and when I do, I forget the little things that I discover along the way, which I feel that a lot of you guys and gals may find interesting or important so from now on, I'll be posting more random stuff that I've discovered while searching for stuff or things not as random, that I purposely needed to find out and want to share the info along :)

Enjoy learning!

Silver Switch Live - Singleeyeperspective

I recently did the very first Silver Switch Live show and I must say it was a real success!

Silver Switch Live is a new thing that I wanna add onto my YouTube Channel shows as well as something to add into the website where I invite acts and I record them perform live. My first performer is known as Singleeyeperspective or Pupiliris depending on which style of his you're exposed to. We did a few tracks live and a separate segment was done for an actual interview as well as a walkthrough into his live set, which I'm sure a lot of you guys might be interested in.

Recorded in true singleeyeperspective fashion, we shot him on the floor with all his gear spread out. Really nice and relaxed setup if I may say. You guys should try it! I tried performing once on the floor at an event and it turned out to be really fun. Brings you back to childhood like when we were simply playing lego or matchboxes :)

Here are some photos from that night. I'm still finishing the videos so stay tuned!

Thanks!

The Single I'm Really Excited to Release!

Hi Guys and Gals,

After months, I can finally formally announce my latest single Disko Dive.

This is a breaks tune that I am happy to say really sounds different. It was initially done to have some vocals in some parts but due to a lack of time, I wasn't able to but it turned out better than I expected.

I sent it out to labels and was favored to be picked up by UK label Acidphonic Records! I was really excited about that and with this single, the plus on top was that I got to be remixed by Anarchy Rice and ACADA! Who would've thought that one day, I'd get to release a UK single with artists from Europe remixing my tunes, right? It really is a blessing!

The release is a full on trio of pumping breaks tracks with my original mix plus the 2 remixes, which is currently a Beatport exclusive so get yours now!

With that, I present Disko Dive.

Get it here :)

Enjoy!

Thanks and God bless!

Life Begins at 40!

[[posterous-content:pid___0]]This time around, it's my first ever American Strat. It's a Fender Strat Plus 40th anniv model.

I love this guitar to bits coz it was my first Fender. It sounds awesome as well. Having this along with Johnny gives me 2 totally different sounds. This one is cleaner for recording though coz it has Fender Lace Sensor Gold's. One thing I was excited about it before was it's the same pups on Claptons early sig model hehe And finally, you gotta admit, the sunburst really gets you. Ever since I was a kid, strats on my mind were always sunburst and I've loved it even before I was into playing music so when the time came that this was being sold, I grabbed the chance and have been smiling since :)

Debbie...

I don't really name my guitars but for the sake of the post, I figured it would be fun to name her Debbie. I think it's pretty self explanatory if you're a kid from the 80s having an older sister hehe

I'm really a strat guy so I don't see myself adding anoth LP to the stable at all. Another Gibson, yes... probably an explorer. But no more LPs for me :)

First There Was Sunburst...

[[posterous-content:pid___0]]I've always loved sunburst guitars ever since I was a kid. After searching high ang low and waiting for the right guitars to come along, here are the remaining and last sunbursts I'll ever have :)

The strat I got the moment the owner posted it for sale. I was actually racing against other people to get it but I won (thank you, Lord)! It's now my main recording guitar especially for client work.

The tele, well here's the short story... I once had an 83 Fender MIA and sold it to this guy... a few months or I think a year down the road, he posts this tele for sale and the rest is history. At this time, I was set on getting this I even sold some of my synths. At that time, I realized that it was better investing in guitars coz it retains its value more than synths and that's when I got it... love it! It's not as sharp sounding with that usual tele bite like most people look for in a Tele but I found that I prefer its more rounded tone retaining that "tele sound" which I really like especially when I'm playing with my band, Lovecore.

Enjoy!

Latest Release on US Label Kick It

Hi guys!

Check out my latest remix release! I figured it would be better if you read it direct from the label's blog. So here goes:

http://kickitrecords.blogspot.com/2011/06/new-release-kir252-rick-tyler-turki...

But I won't end with a link... it would make my blog post "lacking." I figured it would be nice to say something about how I ended up doing this remix for the label.

I found Kick It online and sent in my tunes to them. They were one of the very first labels to get back to me regarding my work and was willing to take on one of my tunes and release it. A few weeks down the line, the label head mentioned their upcoming release and asked if I would be interested to do a remix for them and of course I said yes! This is where the story begins...

It's funny because my remix came out ahead of my actual single with the label but I'm not complaining! It's a treat! Looking forward to my actual release though with them, which I think a lot of you will dig and move to. I love the tune I'm  releasing with them!

Back to the remix, since they're pretty much a breaks label, I decided to do a hard funk breaks remix and I was pretty happy with what I did. Coming from me to say I was happy, that's a lot. I'm pretty hard on myself at times that's why as much as I have tons of tunes, I don't release that often. I want everything to be perfect before releasing anything.

So there, some tidbits about the release. I hope you can support it!

Oh yeah, the weird thing about it is this... label thought my name was silver filter with a space in the middle of the 2 words and so unfortunately, people looking for silverfilter on Beatport will find me but not this particular release (bummer) but can be easily found with the name silver filter. I brought it to their attention so they won't have this problem for my actual single don't worry. Phew!

It's now available on Beatport.

Enjoy and Support your local electronic artists!

Silver Switch Studio Beta Site

Ss-logo-new-solo

After 2 weeks of long hours, back aches and sleeping veeery late, I now present the Silver Switch Studio beta site. I'm just sharing this to my network for now as I am still missing a few words here and there. This is just merely a test site but has most info readily available already. Let's just say this is 98% of the site already. I'm just sorting a few kinks with regards to some content. I decided not to wait any longer before I announced and posted this so that word can spread already :)

A Recap About God's Goodness in 2010

For the past week, I've been glued to my computer finishing the website for my studio, Silver Switch. It's been a long time comin' but I'm happy to announce that the site is almost there. It's another reason why I've been glued coz I want to finish it ASAP.

Working on the photos for the site, I found myself staring at the photos and thinking. I came to remember how everything rolled into becoming this really nice studio that has been such a blessing to my life.

The old studio was an unfinished room made with half new and half scrap building materials from a torn down building of my grandfather. It was old and messy because I had so much stuff that I didn't have a place to put them in. At times, some of my friends would say that the tazmanian devil swept through the room because of how it was. It sometimes hurt me but I simply let it pass because it was what I had. It had tiled floors and that was it. Walls were unfinished cement, and part of the ceiling was even falling off. It wasn't painted either so you'll literally see which parts of the room were reused. It had zero sound treatment and I didn't have any recording area. Oh yeah, one of the walls had some foam on it from excess materials from an office construction.

BUT I learned to live with it. I did my best to make do with what God gave me and I did a few albums in it, and tons of work for clients. I remember hiding underneath my blanket on my bed with a microphone just to "semi-isolate" my outside world to record some vocals when I was starting out.

In around 2007 I think, I thought to myself, I have to build my own studio. I tried to save up. I was given a figure by people and I aimed to get that to start construction. But when I finally reached the amount, years went by already and prices had gone up and I couldn't build it again! I was so frustrated. Typing this even reminds me of how frustrated I was. By then, I got so depressed I spent part of the money because I felt that it was all for nothing and my dreams started crashing down.

And then...

In 2010, after I proposed to my girlfriend, God tells me it's time to build the studio.

At first I was shocked about the revelation because in the natural world view, it was the wrong time... saving up for a wedding AND building a full pro studio from the ground up? It didn't make sense at that time. But God directed me to the heavenly view and in that view, there was provision. In that view, there were dreams coming to pass. So I set my eyes on that and God delivered. He provided for EVERYTHING. It was not easy since there were times that everything was just enough but He made it happen. He even threw in a guitar for me :)

By the end of May, we started construction and I believe around September, were were done and were simply ironing out the details inside the studio. In January, I got married and the blessings were also there.

In 2010, God blessed me with the money to build my studio and to give my wife the wedding she dreamed of. All because our God is faithful and He is in love with us and wants the very best for our lives.

I am honestly not surprised that He did it. I was surprised, that I finally stepped into my little studio dream already but I was not surprised that God made it happen because I know that He has planned for the good things and this is just the beginning.
