The Making of Devotion - part one

The Idea hit me early last year when plans on renovating New Life, my church, was announced. I am where I am because of what God has done in my life and I wanted a way to give back through my music and what better way than to make a fund raising album to build His house. I brought it up initially to some people in church but when nobody picked up on it, I had to set the project aside to focus on work. Fast forward a few months... when I finally got the go signal, I took on the project and worked on twelve songs... I ended up using eleven on the album. As mentioned before in previous posts, Devotion is something I call a soundtrack to prayer. It's an 11-track CD where the songs are more likely to be played in the background. I wrote the tunes with this in mind exactly to create music that doesn't jump out at you while your praying or reading the bible. It's music meant for "devotion" so to speak. I initially thought of simply creating ambient music but when it came down to praying, prayer is about being brought to places by the Spirit and I didn't want the music to be limited by something VERY light. The album is light as it is. For lack of a genre, I simply call it between ambient and chillout. But some of the tunes have that victorious feel or some of them simply bring a smile to our faces. More about Devotion in the coming blogs... I'm going over the master disc while typing this. I'll be delivering it later for replication and it's simply a waiting game after that before album release. I'm really excited! God bless and thanks for the support! Excited 'bout a lot of stuff happening...

I'm resting a while since I'm down to one more song to master for my upcoming album. It's very exciting. I was even mentioning to Bernice how I'd be waiting in anticipation once the Master disc is submitted and all that's left to do is to wait for the batch of silverfilter CDs to be delivered fresh and packed and ready to be sold! Over the course of the past months, I've been working on both my latest silverfilter album and finishing the recording of Lovecore's album. I'm producing the band's album and so I'm pretty much there the WHOLE process making sure everything is how I envisioned it. Pretty exciting times. I'll be delivering the master disc within the week as we finish the rest of the lead guitar parts for the album. After that, I'll be glued next week to finishing all my guitar and vocal parts. We're aiming to finish everything by July and release the album by August at the latest. I told myself I should make the most of 2009 and I'll be pouring everything in this yr... bonding with dad

This'll be short cuz I'm off to do some work but it's funny how my dad and I do our bonding time... playing Text Twist! haha He's a big text twist addict on his mobile and asked if I can install one for his laptop. When I did, we kept playing and playing til after 4am! hehehe of all the things to be used for dad-son bonding, it's a funny thing it had to be text twist hahaha Cy

Last day with Dad

Dad's here for a week and he's been out everyday for work and meetings. He's spending the last day at home finishing some more work and getting a crash course in computer operations and more... Dad's into Real Estate Development but back then, like when I was still in heaven, he was into programming and all but he wasn't able to catch up on technology he's now having to relearn this thing called a PC. He knows the very basics of email so his crash course for the day was using tabs while surfing, email attachments, facebook, watching movies on the computer, WIFI, and more. He's able to follow well and it's nice that he's into it coz I am haha he wants to make the most of his new laptop and it's definitely the way to go especially coz the guy sold him the most powerful one on offer when he purchased hehe it's still a long night....

New silverfilter album out JULY

Hey peeps! My latest album will be available on July 1! It's a sponsored thing so most of the copies will be with them but I can take orders for those interested. We can do the exchange during EM night or we can arrange meetups :) Title is Devotion. It's a very light album between chillout and ambient. It's not free form ambient but more of a structured thing which is far from the usual dance stuff that I do. This particular album is non-profit and I'm doing this as a fund raiser for my church so if you do purchase it, all the proceeds will go to a cause :) I'll explain more soon and spill everything once I sort out some more details :) Mabuhay tayong lahat!! silverfilter

"Wifi" your home and more...

I'm sure some are aware but to those who aren't, you can use your lappy's to transmit a wifi signal to make your house a hotspot. you don't need to get wifi routers anymore (provided your simply surfing from your mobile, ipod a few meters from your computer while on the bed or anywhere not too far from your computer). I won't do a tutorial here coz there are hundreds online and on youtube. By the way, youtube turns out to be a better source for how to's than google since you can see a video with it. Going back, I personally used mine to share my net connection from one laptop to another and to get apps directly while lying on the bed with my computer outside the room. The connection's pretty decent and its pretty fun as well... Best thing I'd like to share for those with iphones or ipod Touch units is the app named "off" freely downloadable from the App Store. I'll explain it in how I use it... Since I use my computer as my router for wifi connection, I have to keep it open while I'm surfing in my room via ipod. What I do to make it worthwhile while it's on is I download movies then just leave it then head to my room. What OFF does is if I get sleepy, I can easily access my computer via my ipod and turn it off from there so I don't need to stand up and walk all the way to the computer. Of course that's the lazy function but my point is its ease. Some reviews I read is when a dad can make sure his children turned off the computer so that's very useful. These are the times my geek side comes out and I'd say it's helped me a lot haha Cy

Lovecore Album Update

Hey guys! I hope everybody's doing well. Just a simple update for everyone :) You can still vote for our single on NU jst send NUVOTE WALIS TAMBO to 29107 :) The album's well on its way I'm very happy to say. We've found our recording "rhythm" so to speak and our projected July release can be met possibly. latest is August. Album title is FUNK N' ROLL and we'll be having 14 songs or if we can cram 15, we'll try it. We like to put in as much music as we can share with everyone. With this in mind, we'd like to ask anyone who would be willing to help us look for additional album sponsorship or even X deals for merchandise and stuff for the album and the band.
