I'm always on the lookout to learn more so I decided to add to my knowledgebank with these :)

Mixing Ultimate Guide from Future Music - since I do everything in the box and even after reading a lot and doing my own mixing in the past years, there's always something to be picked up. 

Reason Ultimate Guide - this one's a no brainer for me since I work exclusively in Reason. Hopefully I can pick up new tips and tricks here.

Producer Masterclass Collection of Computer Music - It's a collection of interviews and tutorials from various electronic music producers so I'm sure it'll be very interesting going over the videos. I wasn't able to collect the individual DVDs for the series so it's nice that they released the full collection. 

Lastly, something non-electronic...

Guitar Techniques: Play Modern Blues - I'm into the blues when playing my guitar so I ordered this to add on to my playing. I'm very interested to see what "modern blues" is for them hehe

So there... it's gonna be a reading spree. Thank you Lord for your provision that I was able to order these! :)

Yay For Motorized Fader

Just got the Frontier Alphatrack for use with Reason and I must say it's great! I just chanced upon this one for sale and did some research on it. When doing mixes, I've come to that point where I also want to tweak or adjust using real knobs and faders and buttons. I've been lookin to get a Novation Remote Zero but budget won't allow so I was surprised to find out how the AT works tightly with Reason! With its motorized fader, I can now somehow "touch" my mix and adjust on the fly without using the mouse. It's a breeze to go track by track and not only is it great for mixing but also for the whole process of writing since there's a button for everything like track, instrument, even patch change per instrument. With the nice SSL clone mixer of Reason, it also now responds and reacts as well as reflects directly onto the AT. 

I must say though I've just been getting the hang of it for the past hour since I just got it today but looking at how it integrates tightly as a Reason controller, I am looking forward to a quicker workflow with this!

What Have I Been Up To?!

I feel bad for not being as consistent with the entries but I've been busy so I hope it's an excuse! :)

First off and most importantly, I've been very busy taking care of my now 2-month old baby, Olivia.

I've been terribly busy I keep forgetting it's mid Feb already and I've held up a lot of personal projects eep!

January saw the completion of one of my biggest projects of the year for a company Germany where I work with sound library music. This year, I got the privilege to write female pop songs from lyrics to the music as well as supervise the whole vocal recording! It was quite an experience to tell you the truth. It was stressful but rewarding in the end and the experience I gained was priceless :)

In between, I was able to squeeze in of course a new student for my music production course. If you're interested in it, send me a message so I can send you the details.

I also did a few ads. One for Mighty Bond and another for Century Tuna with Derek Ramsay and others. I'm talking about the music here ok? hehe

I was also fortunate enough to be trusted by a band called Nelo for their new EP. So we did their album last January and I came in as overall producer and collaborator as well as some input in some songwriting. It was a fun and rewarding experience as well. We tracked their whole 5-song EP in 2 days. That was the sched I was given and I'm really happy we were able to finish it. At this point, I'm just mixing then mastering the EP for them to pick up. 

I also played in a wedding imagine that! But I was blessed and FORTUNATE coz I played for actual silverfilter fans :) I was really happy to be invited to play for their special day and not only did I get to play but I also did a set (once more) with Skarlet! It was definitely a fun experience. I also rolled out our "Rolling In The Deep" version, which brought the house alive. Congrats again to Efren and Tessa! 

And onto February, I've opened it up with a few ads for some schools and another tuna ad, which I'll announce once they're finalized hehe I also started a new session for a new student for the music prod class. Towards the end of this month, I'll be busy as the studio's being used for the recording of an album of an American friend for her songs so I'm looking forward to that. 

As you have read, it's been ALL work-related so I haven't been able to work on my personal silverfilter projects, which I sorely miss. I do hope to finish a few before the month ends because I DESPERATELY need to submit something to Beatport for release or else my new label will be under a bad light :(

I'm hoping to finish my album within Feb-March so watch out for it. This time it's real. I've actually been gathering funds for it already :) 

The year may have started a bit slow on the silverfilter side but it'll definitely catch up for sure just watch this space!

Saw Some 50% Off Promos for Reason Sounds

Just sharing the good news (anything 50% off is definitely good news, right?)

Anyway, these guys are having a sale right now and I must say, these are worth it. Of course I am always on the lookout for something nice but these labels have been on my sights for a long time and I was actually saving up to get these...

First up is BHK which offers some really nice filthy DNB and Dubstep sounds. I actually have their "Heavy" release on my to buy list and I think now is the best time :)

Last is Bitword. I believe it's been more than a year or two that I've been eyeing their Wavefront Refill just because it's such a MASSIVE sound library and I was fortunate to grab it a while back. I just want everyone to experience this really nice sound bank at half the price this time. If you've only been working with the FSB in Reason, this is a nice first step in expanding your sounds

So This Is How I Sound If I Rapped...

This is one of the ads I arranged some time ago. I did the vocal guide for the singer but the agency liked it and decided to let me have a go at it and I ended up doing both the vox and music hehe Now I can say I "sang" for an ad haha :)
