(Still) Understanding God's Timing...

With the recent updates happening in my music-making, I often wonder why just now?

Over the years, I've felt that at this point, I may have missed my boat or even wasted my time, not being where I wanted to be at a certain point in my life. I felt that I should be far by now but I feel that I am way behind the goals I saw myself in before.

This is where God's timing comes in.

As I mentioned earlier, those were my goals and that was the timeline I saw myself in... But not how God saw it or plotted it I believe. He has His timing and I'm guessing that maybe if I tried to, for example, send my stuff out early on in my career, I might have just gotten rejected countless times and never received any good news back. It made me realize the truth in the phrase "preparation time is never wasted." Now I know that even if I felt nothing was happening for years like getting the "big breaks" I was hoping for, all the while, God was just letting me do my thing, training my production skills and even my ears so that when I'm ready and once I send my stuff out, it would be crisp and rockin... Well, for me at least!

I guess another thing to consider also is God just trained me and allowed time to pass so that technology can also catch up and make it easier for me to get heard by the people in other countries who signed my tunes to their labels.

Truth be told, I still have HUGE dreams that I still haven't seen but I know that God's timing is perfect and since He put those dreams in me, He will make sure to fulfill it. SURELY :)

It just makes me more excited now than I ever was...

I Miss This...

Here are a few short clips of my live guitar set as it appeared on Studio 23.

I wrote all the tunes and had my friend session for me in controlling the boxes while I play guitar and sing. All sounds from my axe and my ol 307 Smile

Enjoy!

Frequency Chart For Sounds and Instruments

Here's an awesome chart I saw shared online from the Propellerhead forum, which would be very helpful for a lot of things in your production and mixing :)

Goodbye silverfilter Monthly

I once tried to do a monthly update called "silverfilter monthly" where I included some updates, tips n tricks, review, and a featured track. However, it's been difficult to keep up with it with the new developments like the main blog and the youtube channel. I find that the blog updates as well as the youtube channel more than fills the role just the same and more and so with that, we say goodbye to the silverfilter monthly newsletter via html format and I'll just post a regular update on things via message and simply make the link to stuff more accessible in the site.

Should I find an easier way to do it, we might just see it again :)

If you still haven't joined, the sf list is on facebook! http://www.facebook.com/silverfilterofficial

Thanks for the support and encouragement!

God bless

One of Many More To Come...

Picture_1

I'm excited to announce to everyone my latest release on Beatport. This early, it's a Beatport exclusive and then I think afer a few weeks it will be available at all other digital download stores all over the world.

This is one of many releases I have lined up and I'm excited to be doing this and finally releasing material on a regular basis on top of the album I'm currently finishing/awaiting release.

Bass Bombs is a result of a track I created with dropping bass sounds and this is how it resulted. It was a fun track to do and it took time before it got released from my end but I'm just glad it's out now.

The cover as you can see, is a literal representation of "bass bombs" which I came up with when I was thinking of a nice cover to go with the release.

Enjoy and I hope you support my release

The fun thing about this project is I'm not restricted to ANYTHING since it's my personal project. But that's not to say I don't care at all whoever gets to download these. What I'm really after is that these loops and patches that I make will be beneficial to anyone regardless of style and I hope it can find its way into your productions.

Today, I can't say what style this is but I just let everything go and went with the flow.

Initially, I wasn't working on creating a keys patch. However, after I created the drum loop, it seemed to be begging for one. So here it is :)

100 Day Project - Day Two

Today's entry is a bit more Tech house on the loop and a little synthesized on the patch. I was trying to go for some organic influenced tech house stab that was synthesized hehehe this is the result :)

Apology For The Double Posts

I'm sorry especially for the double posting. I had to sort out the problem for over an hour so I'm hoping this works. I accidentally enabled posting from another social network into twitter and into other sites TWICE for the account. No wonder it always ended up posting twice.

Sorry.

Pretty Psyched About The 100 Day Project

Ok so far I'm pretty happy with the 1st day entry I made. I really took the time to make a really nice drum loop and the patch I made for Thor was something I worked hard on.

Just something to remember, the sounds I make and the loops I create are really a labor of love in the sense that it's not something I just plan to put together for the heck of it or since I need something to upload for the day. These sounds are something I really do plan to use.

Now the whole package from now on will be uploaded and posted just the same with a sound sample of both the patch and the loop together, and a link to download the zip package. All you have to do is unzip it. Now the loop will always be named like this "name-bpm" and will always be in aif format.

As part of the "exclusivity" of the whole thing, the download is only good for 100 people. beyond that, sorry. Early bird gets the worm :) But if you follow my posterous blog, then you can still download the loop but not the patch.

I am currently toying with the idea of selling the patches later on but we'll see. I might as well earn a little from the hard work put in, right?

so there. hope you enjoy this project!

Oh yeah, it's the 100 day project but it doesn't mean it'll be 100 consecutive days ok? I might be busy from time to time so I won't be able to upload anything. but rest assured that it's better that way, since we can always make sure that I'm working on quality and not just quantity and being able to follow a schedule :)

God bless!

100 Day Project - Day One

Ok, was a bit late in posting this but here it is. I'm pretty sure this one's earned this place for Day 1 hehe

The 100 Day Project

I was inspired by a friend to do a hundred days project. At first, he was suggesting something different for the project but I figured I'd change it to something I can actually do hehe

So from tomorrow, I'll start the project. I'll be making and uploading one Reason patch and one loop (drum, synth, bass, etc) for free :)

I initially just wanted to do just one and was leaning more on the reason patch but since some might be asking for loops as well, I'm happy to oblige.

I just hope I could keep up with it!

My Live Set Journey

I started with an MC307 paired up with a pioneer EFX500 and KP (for a short while an airFx and Ineko). Later added an SP808 and updated the KP's to the newer versions. Then later on added electribes EM1 and ESX to the mix.

Then I went the software route with Live with a novation Remote SL still keeping my FX boxes.

I then moved on to Live with an APC40 and then later on Maschine running inside Live.

These days, I think I wanna change into running Maschine standalone clocked to Reason+Record controlled by a Novation X Station. I'm still toying with the idea but I believe it'll help me add more to the live aspect of it hopefully. Of course, still with my trusty fx boxes EF500 and KP3:)

I just found myself a NOS Korg ER1 mk1 and I inherited a pair of ES1's and an EA1 so I'm also planning on making an all hardware set once again. But I'm thinking more on saving up to get a Machinedrum UW mk2 hopefully soon but I haven't started saving up for it yet :( So now I think I'll develop my Maschine and Reason live set just so it can also be easy to transport since I wanna take my live set on the road and I'm dreaming of doing a simple asian tour thing so if some of you guys around asia can hook me up, I'd be more than willing to do a gig! I just wanna do it more for the experience of going around than for the money :)
