Hermit Week

It's been almost a week since I locked myself at home unintentionally.

I've been sick since Tuesday and I couldn't leave or get out of the house except for Monday when I was still ok and I really needed to go out and get the groceries for the month. The intense stomach pain has drawn much strength from me and all I could do was to stay home and stick to making music, which is not bad at all since I found time to rush on my biggest project for the year. So I was able to work on 5 new tracks for the project. I still have 7 more to go. During the breaks (which I needed of course), I found myself getting back to writing new dance tunes, which is quite  a refreshing feeling. It's been a while since I wrote dance tracks and I guess the long pause in between helped a bit. I managed to write 3 new tunes which I need to finish soon.

Apart from the music-making, I have the tendency to to just let myself be. You know those TV shows where the guy gets locked up in his apartment and his beard grows? I have that tendency... I take a bath of course (duh) but once I get into the "groove" of being busy, I can let my moustache and beard grow and just shave it off when I'm about to go out and mingle with the real world again. I'm just happy to say that in all my years in this life, this is the first time I've lasted without shaving for 6 days. Longest was 4 I think and all my friends know that in just two days, it's more than just a shadow on my face. I like to play with the look and see people's reactions to it but I have a show with the band tonight so I'll be shaving again but my sched is free next week so I think I'll be doing this again. Maybe see how long I can go without shaving haha

We'll be playing tonight in Taytay Rizal for GenCon Church and My radio interview for NU107 is on Sunday already! Busy weekend.

Latest silverfilter site is finally up!

Hello Friends!

After months of hard work and sleepless nights for the past weeks, I am pleased to announce the launch of the new silverfilter official site. I dub it the silverfilter v4 site since it's the 4th site overhaul from design to content and I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with this new design for a while as I've made it easier to maintain, constantly fresh, and everyone can enjoy the music which is what really matters! The site is literally from my own blood, sweat, and fortunately no tears hehehe It's a VERY personal thing for me. I took all the pictures, did all the edits, designed the whole site, researched on the needed codes, etc... basically, it's truly a labor of love for this little "project" of mine. I'm always reminded by what our pastor said, "times of preparation is never wasted." So regardless of web hits, I believe that God helped me through with the site for a grand purpose :) It might be a little rough round the edges but it's chock full of stuff to keep you entertained.

I shall be ending my blogger posts from now on

As stated, I will end all regular blog posts on blogger from now on and maintain my blog on Multiply fed into Facebook. Weirdly enough, it's because of the new silverfilter website update. I'm having trouble with the online live feeds from the blogs fed into the site so I had to make changes. I'll use this for GIG updates and reviews :) Cy

I've been thinking, I think I better set a deadline for launch for the silverfilter website but I'm afraid I don't want to commit too much coz I'm focused on finishing the album for the band and I can't mix up and spread myself too thin these days. I dunno. How does within September sound? haha

I'm typing another blog since I'm doing some checks on the site since I created a live feed into the site so that visitors can be up to date with everything and not just those who visit my networking sites. Cy

Busy working with the site

I finally have time to work on the rest of the new silverfilter site and I'm pretty excited with the whole thing since it's improved so much from the last one, I can't wait to launch it... really. I've been itching to announce the first draft online just to let people know and witness the progress but I guess I really have to control myself. It's a big learning process as I found myself googling for solutions for some things I wanted to include but it's gonna be worth it at the end. I'm just glad I'm finally creating a site I can easily manage and update at the same time use to interact on a personal level with the visitors and all the people who support my silverfilter project. I'm terribly GASSING for a Japanese Fender strat!!! Anyway, I can't wait to finish the album of Lovecore and for August to arrive so we can focus again as a band since as mentioned before, Paolo, our drummer, is a new dad again so he's taking a leave this month except for those dates he committed to. Decided to rest

I woke up earlier than usual coz an ant bit me and since I NEEDED to get up to pick up the car from the mechanic, I didn't try going back to sleep. I freed up my day to record the last 2 songs for the lovecore album but decided to rest today. my hands are still recovering. It's not because the songs were too hard or It was too much playing/recording... I just lack time playing (practicing?) that my fingers aren't used to it anymore hehe Spent the day doing research on studio designs and what I can include in the redesign of the new studio. I really do hope we can start building it in 2 weeks at the most. Initially, I called my studio Switch but when the new one's built, I plan to register it and I'm toying with silver switch or sonic switch studios... I dunno yet. Picked up a few ideas from my research and it was nice because I really didn't know what type of color scheme I wanted. I was willing to settle with something latte but I saw this green studio that looked so fresh! It literally gave me this warm feeling so I think I'll do that. the recording booth is gonna be orange and brown (wood). Exciting! Spent the rest of the night researching on digital distribution for the new silverfilter album and waited for the memorial service for Michael Jackson... I'm really speechless. Can't believe he's actually gone. I'll just save my Michael Jackson entry for another day... I'll be in a meeting tom for a future gig in Bora so I guess I'll be hitting the beach in a few months hehe 'til then. Cy ps... Little Studio update

I'm gonna be renovating my studio and finally it's gonna happen after half a yr of delay. Madz once dubbed it as a place where the Tazmanian devil lives. It WAS a bedroom studio so everything was there naturally. My new and HIGHLY improved studio would be JUST a studio and the room would be a separate thing so I'll have space for a couch and some chairs for lounging, the proper gear, furniture, cabinets, and the lighting. I'm also putting in a proper vocal booth sized just enough for a drum kit as well since I plan to do drum recordings in it. I'll also be opening it up to friends. Not as public as I'd like to but for people I know esp electronic acts for vocal recordings on tracks, or do and record session guitars if you need guitar parts on your tracks hehehe, etc. All my money is poured into the studio structure right now so upgrades inside would follow later on. I can still manage anyway with my current setup. The only thing I got for the studio itself were some pieces of studio furniture like a set of quiklok monitor stands paired with their workstation desk. As I mentioned, my current setup (at the moment) is typical. Not as powerful or expensive as I'd like to but I have to set my priorities. I just have a PC laptop, an NI soundcard (which I love), a pair of Alesis Monitors, an Akai controller, a couple of synths (left), and my normal band setup of drums and guitars. I also have a pair of those Bose speakers which I use just to change my listening environment to see how it sounds on hifi systems. I just have an AT 4040 condenser and a simple Shure SM58. My dream list would definitely be longer but my point is we can definitely make music with so little these days that it's really pointless to think and say that "if I had... I could." For my liveset, there's a different gear list for that haha I'm still thinking of a name. I came up with one already but I'll wait til something else hits me just in case :) For my modest wishlist: I want a new set of KRK monitors, A nice mic preamp, a full Mac System, Logic, and a few nice plugs. For now I'm not really looking into getting all the most expensive and high end stuff. I'm more into getting something that works and within budget eventually. As of now, I'm happy with my setup so a little upgrade bump would suffice. lost what I typed

Typed an entry and when i pressed send, it refreshes and my entry wasn't there and lost the whole thing. so now I'm too tired to type the whole thing. The fingers on my left hand hurt as I type this. I've been playing guitar since yesterday afternoon for recording. I'm down to 2 more songs and I'm pretty happy about it. I really feel pissed I lost my previous entry! tinatamad nako magtype! Attended church today and had a full dinner in Cafe Med... I mean FULL!!! headed for ice cream after... I didn't make it to Sebastians (which is my all time favorite!!!) so I had to settle for FIC (bummer). We then watched ice age 3. It was good for laughs. I somehow wish they never gave away most of the funny parts in the previews!!!  Oh well.... I'll be hitting the sack early coz I have to be up by 8 to have the car fixed... Saturday blues... on a sunday mornin post

Had a Lovecore gig at Al's last night. It was a 3 song gig but I enjoyed it very much. We  played as a 3 piece act since our drummer's wife just gave birth and we had to play our commitment out. I played drums and sang. It was a trip I guess and I think I missed drumming that much I was just banging away... Lovecore album update - restrung my Strat and Les Paul for some of the songs since I'm doing my parts already and I'm glad to say that all those late night early morning sessions are paying off. I'm down to 4 songs for the album then it's just the vocals then mix to master and we're done. I'm still hopeful for an August release so stay tuned! Anyway, in silverfilter news... Just got word that the production company helping me out with the new album might take longer than expected to fix everything because there's a new requirement again and YET another agency to go through just for an artist to release something. It's really funny (not) how all this is happening now. I'm keeping it positive and it's still July anyway so I'll just wait it out for now. I'm pretty busy with tons of stuff at the moment anyway. We spent another Saturday shooting for the Video of Walis Tambo by my band and it was a good day of shooting and we all had a blast.
