The Electronica Manila Community

For #4 in the 100 blog topics, it says write about "A Community I Love" in which case, it is Electronica Manila.

"Formed in May 16, 2002, Electronica Manila has remained the premier collective of electronic music producers and enthusiasts focused on promoting and cultivating electronic music in the Philippines. Pushing not just the appreciation of the genre, the group has continuously stood as a community engaged in the development of Philippine-made electronica. 

With members coming from all backgrounds from producer, DJ, listener, and even fans of homegrown electronic artists, Electronica Manila has always contributed to the awareness of the local electronic scene. 

Since day one, EM has continued to do various shows all over the metro, release digital albums, and hold workshops for people interested in learning more about music production. Behind the scenes, the mailing list has remained to be a great resource for anyone willing to learn and know more about production, artists, albums, and just about anything relating to electronic music.

Techno, IDM, Drum and bass, breakbeats, lounge, chillout, house, progressive, trance, and everything in between and beyond, Electronica Manila caters to all supporters and creators of electronic music.

Now without all the formalities and write-ups, I love EM because of the community. Well, we can always say that in every mailing list or forum, there is that community. But what I love about EM is the supportive nature of everyone involved in it. Any misunderstandings or disputes can be counted from zero to none. The group is always ready and willing to help out and over the years, I personally have seen even careers and livelihood of people being shaped just because they joined up. 

For people who are members, I'm pretty sure they have their own stories to tell about how EM has helped them in one way or another because the members were willing to go out of their way to assist each other in anything they can help with. 

So if you are into electronic music EM is for you. If you're into producing electronic music, EM is for you. If you're want to learn more about electronic music, DJing, the artists, and more, EM is for you. We're a happy bunch and it sure is fun to be in a warm community of musicians, artists, and enthusiasts.
