God Gave Me More Than I Asked For

My wedding day just finished last Saturday and I must say I have mixed feelings about it. Mostly positive of course and some just frustrations on how some of the plans didn't turn out as we intended it to be. Good thing I was reminded by one of my spiritual leaders to not let it ruin my wedding day and just keep positive.

Anyway, this isn't the run through but I would just like to share a little something how God showed himself strong that day...

It was sunny one moment then cloudy the next and it went on and on throughout the morning till the afternoon. When I arrived, it was so hot. Shortly after, the clouds started to come in and the cold wind blew. The skies started to darken and I knew it was gonna rain soon. I knew but I kept believing that God was in control. God created this union of myself and Bernice and I knew He would see this day through with beauty that we could never imagine.

Then showers began.

Initially, the guests didn't know what to do but a lot remained calm and stayed. I remember being asked to take shelter but I decided to stay in the rain together with my guests. If they can stay in the rain for my wedding, I can definitely join them in doing so.

And so it went on as the showers slowly died down up to little mists in the air and the whole time since it started, I was praying together with a lot of the guests. I knew that this wasn't God's plan to ruin my wedding but instead, He used it to show us how He works... a little later such a beautiful sunset shone against us at the altar and then God revealed his final touch, a rainbow. It was so magnificent that my bride still tears up remembering what happened.

For weeks, people have warned us to get tents and told us about the rain and all. A week before the wedding, rain started pouring in the Metro and I stood firm that God won't allow my wedding to be ruined. I even told Bernice and my coordinator that I won't get tents because I knew God would show up that day. Instead, on the day itself, He allowed a little bit of shower just to show everybody His faithfulness that He is in control. He stopped the rain a few minutes after and topped it off with a ray of colors.

I remember during my prayers before the wedding, I was telling God not to let it rain, He just said, "Be still and know that I am God," and He most definitely is. He was in control and He reassured me that as He was in my wedding, so will He be throughout my marriage and that's how He loves and blesses His children.

And to close, here's a photo, shot by one of our sponsors/ninongs, Jeric Soriano of that blessed day.
