Finally! My YouTube Show Pilot!
I'm so glad.
As I type this, I'm just waiting for the rendering/exporting of the very first episode of my YouTube show, Take One.
Take One is simply my new little project where I feature artists, do tutorials, or whatever I feel like doing. It's simply my own little show, but I am doing this primarily to help others and share my knowledge on music production and some extras. I'm really excited to get this rolling.
The first episode isn't the one I initially planned especially since I need more preparation for that but I hope the pilot episode can cut it. I'm not trying to compete with anyone anyway. I just want to help. I teach on how to make your basic house drum loop and that's as simple as it is. I try to squeeze everything into the 10 minutes and I shall try to cover the very basic up to some more advanced lessons.
So do checkout and subscribe to my channel at http://www.youtube.com/silverfiltermusic for live videos and all the Take One episodes.
Why did I call it Take One? Coz I wish to do each tutorial in One Take as to not do major editing haha I know it's shallow but I wanted to make it a point to make it in the simplest and quickest way possible so I can continue to do more shows and make more music. I don't want to use up all my time making a really awesome video tutorial but I end up with zero music output :)
Thanks and I hope you enjoy this new project of mine!
God bless!

My Latest Guitar Accessory...
Well, my latest is a strap but this is more important...
The TC Electronic Polytune tunes your guitar or bass. The difference is, it won't just tune individual strings BUT it'll tune it all at the same time with 6 visual meters per string! It's the first in the world and it's awesome! Go get one now! It's mighty accurate and the speed of tuning is radically changed. All I do now is just strum to find out which string needs tuning! :)
It Has Begun...
The house is in a complete mess...
In a few hours from now, it'll be day 3 of my bedroom studio renovation and it's been quite an interesting first two days. Good thing I have my camera along to document the whole process until it finishes.
So far, there have been some moving, carrying, tearing down, and last I checked, they already removed the old rotting roof! Perhaps the old beams will come down later. We'll see. I'll be posting updates on this momentous point in my life! hehe Yes it IS that big for me.
Here are some photos and videos from day 1 and 2...

Pulling a Crowd and Then Some...
It was our first gig with the rest of Lovecore at Penguin Makati last Saturday.
To be honest, I really had a hard time. I don't know why but I just couldn't pull in the people into our sound. I've seen some people moving and grooving but I just felt that big wall between us. I may be just being a bit hard on myself but that's how I felt. I hope we could do better the next time.
Highlight of the night however was different...
About to leave, I was asked if I could help out the band inside coz their drummer hasn't arrived yet. They said just play 3 songs till he arrives. Turns out it was Bembol Rockers! I loved their sound but I wasn't confident I could pull off and bring something to their sound but I'm glad I stepped out and just took the challenge... I ended up playing the whole set! I think we played like 12-15 songs and we really rocked the place! I really enjoyed it and it was nice being behind the drums once again. It was a welcome experience. Unfortunately, it was to be their last show for a few months since their bassist was leaving for another country.
It was just one of those pleasant surprises God threw at me and it was nice. Really brought a smile to my face.

Electronica Manila Night: Show and Tell - review
(reposted from Electronica Manila)
To those who didn't know, I was actually down with the fever that day. But it
being an EM night, and as one of the performers, I had to go and attend. GOOD
thing I forced myself to :)I was moved and happily surprised with SEP's new sound. I'm glad he's finally
found his sound. You guys better check it out. It's awesome. More like a solo
electronic Sigur Ros. I really enjoyed his set.For Firefly logic's set, well, setup pa lang patay na eh... 2 Nords, 1 Virus,
and an iPad. droolllll... But seriously, even if they just brought some
controllers and used a GM module, FL really can deliver. I mean, they were
freakin playing live as in live talaga hehe no loops except for their sequenced
drums, which found itself morphing as well. Really awesome set. They never cease
to amaze me.Thanks to those who enjoyed and liked my set. I enjoyed it as well. I'm glad to
have inspired you guys and it was a great feeling to somehow empower whoever
tried to do their first live PA set that night so to speak. I liked the fact
that even one of the people in the resto tried it. They weren't EM but they
found it interesting. And of course, I have the bragging rights to have been
able to get Emorej to play live!!! yeeehaaaaa!!!! hehehe But seriously, that was
something else to see him live and fooling around. To those who weren't there, I called my set "Play My Set." I setup my gear
facing the audience along with my computer. Then for the duration of my set,
anybody interested can come up and play with the APC40 in front of them
triggering loops, scanning over the loop set in Ableton Live and simply having a
blast. I was on the other end simply putting fx over whatever people decided to
play. So it turned out great with people tweaking knobs, triggering loops,
sliding faders, etc. It was very enjoyable even on my end just watching all the
people who tried.I'm glad that the Electronica Manila nights are doing more than its purpose of
just exposing the music but triggering the interest and helping people interact
and try out the music for themselves. We've had a number of EM nights already so
I won't talk about attendance coz the people who attend experience firsthand
what others are missing out on.See you in the next EM night, entitled "Jam!"Cy
A Lot...
I just realized that it's been a week since my last update. Partly caused by my sched but more so because I had a fever last week.
Hoping to rest after the work last April-May, I looked forward to the beginning of June. But I guess my body crashed. It was its way of telling me that before I decided to go and enjoy myself, I should get some rest and that's what it made me do. Work poured in early last week and after I attended to some clients, just like the snap of a finger, I was sick. I was down for roughly 3 days. I HAD to get well.
With fever and on the way to recovery, I headed out to food tasting for the caterer for the wedding all the way in Diliman and back to Makati for an Electronica Manila night. It was a long day. I remember feeling the chills driving back to Makati but I didn't let it stop me from attending the EM night especially coz I was part of the lineup. I'll repost a separate entry for the EM night, which I wrote for the mailing list.
Thing is, I couldn't afford to rest because I HAD to clean up the old studio since the crew were coming in and I had to clear out my stuff. I got delayed for 3 days to be exact then...
Friday, I stayed at home and rested. Began to clean up a bit. To be honest, I can't remember what I did last Friday (gulp)... But I can remember Saturday.
Saturday was Lovecore's first gig at the new Penguin Makati. I guess I'll post a separate one for that as well.
So Sunday, I watched SATC2 with Berns. I guess I need not say more haha Fast forward a bit and I slept for 2 hours then started the delayed move of the stuff for the old studio. took me 6 hours for everything including going with the crew for some clearances, etc. I was so exhausted that I slept for 7 hours and woke up at almost 8pm. Since then, I went back to working on 2 remixes, an ad revision and to finally relax, I watched some movies on DVD. Hurt Locker hung in the middle (crappy disc) so I watched Up In The Air instead. It was a pleasant flick. I liked it.
And now I find myself listening to some Demolee while typing this. A bit hungry but I'll see if I'll attend to my hunger. Will hit the sack in a bit.
I'm glad to be back writing.
