My Promotion of Cafe 1771

I forgot to talk about the food!

The event had not only free flowing drinks but unlimited supply of food as well! It was really a treat! I actually felt bad my tummy couldn't accommodate all the choices that were available. But then again, I don't need to be a glutton anyway hehe

But you should all try to visit the place. It's in El Pueblo in the Ortigas area. The food is great and quite affordable. Don't be shocked when you compare the prices against other resto's because they have huge portions so it's just the same if you shared it. The ambience is really different as well. They have three areas (I may be not as accurate with the specifics) but they have the 1st floor which has that light feel. It also feels like a very calming library. Then the sidebar, which they say, is like those long English bars would definitely get a following of its own seeing that its spot held a once famous night spot as well. Upstairs, there's the wine and dine area. The distance separated by the flight of stairs between the first and second floor is enough to transport you into a different place altogether! You are welcomed by bar and that "smoky" feel from the interiors and somehow, you'd even mistake it for a fine dining resto but it's more than a nice place to eat and drink. Even the chairs speak for the feel of the whole floor where you feel like all you need is a silk robe and cuban cigars hehe Serious.

But yeah, pay them a visit. I know I will go back and bring my friends along just to enjoy the ambience and the great food.

I'm very picky with food so I hope you can pick up that if I say it's good, it's good! Not that I'm an expert... I'm just really picky haha

Cafe 1771 Grand Opening

I played at the grand opening of Cafe 1771 last Saturday, July 17. It was a much awaited gig for me because of the experience and the sets I had to do.

First set was more on deep/soulful house. It was a live electronic set but I played a guitar on top of the tunes as well. Surprisingly, my preparation paid off. I tried to do a practice run set of the tunes the other week and it was a train wreck. But I'm so glad the actual gig set went smoothly and I was really having a good time for the whole hour.

Second set was something similar to what I did in High Street back in April but the setup for this was different. I had a 2 strings and a flute. I did my own remixed arrangements of tunes like Satisfaction, Sunshine of Your Love, Rollover DJ, Are You Gonna Go My Way, Whole Lotta Love, and even Purple Haze. It was a trip. I wish I could do it again!

I couldn't post invites prior to the event since it was an exclusive party but I'll be uploading possibly one of the remixes soon :) The remixes would appear "thin" with the instruments since I wrote these in anticipation of strings and a flute playing over it.

More updates soon!

God bless

How Do You Support Your Team?

I was about to hit the sack when something unnecessary happened. I won't get into the details but it led me to this post.

It's funny how you can tell a lot about a person when it comes to how they handle little things. In relation to this post, it's about how they support their team. Having just finished watching the World Cup finals, I've observed a lot of different ways people support their team. I won't go into the details of each but I'll just focus on one of them...

They support their team by bashing/trash-talking people who support them.

Personally, that's not how I support mine. I enjoy cheering and shouting for my team regardless if we're on the losing end. You can ask my friends... there were only 5 of us NED fans where we watched. But I never tried to say anything against Spain or any other team who was against those that I was cheering for. I would even call fouls on my team if we really were the ones at fault. But it's funny how we can tell a lot about someone just by that simple fact: You feel superior because you put someone down. Wow... that's something. I just got thrown off by someone who chose to insult me after commenting how the finals became such a nice game because of the challenge Ned presented against Esp. Despite being a NED supporter, I knew ESP was the stronger team. I was actually surprised at how NED performed during the game. I never expected that they would give ESP even a challenge. My little prayer was just not to lose with so many points against them. But I was mighty proud at how long they lasted before losing against Spain.

And a little comment I had about how the finals became a really nice final game, because it was a fun game to watch with all the challenges, was returned with an insult. Really cheap. Really.

It's weird that of all people, I had to get it. I mean, whenever my team loses, I'm even one of the very first people to congratulate the supporters of the winning team. It's sports! Why should I insult supporters, right? I don't know. Maybe some people are just brought up that way. It's sad actually...

I hope any of you guys reading this won't do the same thing. Cheer for your team all you want. Buy their jerseys or any merchandise! Pray for them (I actually prayed hard for Germany haha). But don't choose that road where you feel better by showing your team support by bashing/trash-talking the people NOT supporting them. It just reeks of "cheapness" really. And if you lose, you'll look MORE stupid especially to those people you insulted.

Football and My Journey...

It's been a while since my last entry and I was down with the fever... football fever that is. This caused me to be delayed on stuff I needed to upload and update.

Anyway, it's a nice fever to have and being a football player (inactive), watching the WC has definitely awakened that part of me, which took up a huge part of my first 21 years in this world. Watching the games reminded me of all those days of training, games, sportsmanship, and all the great things that made me love being a football player. But I really didn't start as one...

Before I hit 10, I was always one of the boys playing basketball in the streets. I wanted to be part of the school varsity team but I was let down and rejected from tryouts and this really took my fire out for some reason. I searched for some other thing to do and one day, I chanced upon a flyer which had a football summer clinic schedule printed on it. I told my parents about it and that's where my journey with Football began. I was 10.

I ate and drank football. I was in training 4 times a week under the sun. When  I graduated college and stopped playing, people who knew me wondered what happened to my skin coz all those years in school I was hella dark! I remember MWFS training days under the blistering heat and I loved every second of it.

I played all of the positions. This is not to say I'm good at all of it. It's just my journey over the years, which led me to play the different positions. I was still looking for the position God destined me for. But I lasted longest as striker and I loved that position. I once became a goalie when I was starting out as a 10 year old kid but I was baaaad! hehehe I especially loved being the sweeper and striker. Midfield is a great position to be in but it's VERY tiring hehe

Looking back, that fateful day of finding that piece of paper on the ground, which was considered trash already, was something that changed my life.

I was part of the school team since I started playing until I graduated college. I enjoyed being part of the San Beda Alabang Football Team. We weren't good to be honest. But we definitely had passion and a love for the team that regardless of how bad we were, we always had fun.

I also played in college when I was in UP. Good times! I especially enjoyed those leagues I joined with the team and the Upsilon Cup games. Always looked forward to that every year haha

I guess the highlights of my football life was being part of the regional team in Palarong Pambansa representing NCR. That was one of my best experiences. I'm man enough to say I wasn't part of the main stars of the team coz at that level, the good ones really do stand out and I really looked up to my teammates. Just to be part of the team was a great privilege for me. Another important thing for me was being team captain in High School and College. That was a great honor indeed.

Watching football games on TV is something that would really strike a chord in a player coz we've felt the emotions that come with a goal. We react that way because it's soooo hard to score one. I guess this is one major thing that has made all these memories come rushing back to me. To be honest, I miss playing. I miss the feeling of making a goal. I miss a lot of things about football.

It's nice how God lead me to being a football player. I didn't realize that I was created by Him to be one, instead of being a basketball player. Much like how I discovered music around 12 when all I wanted to do before that was draw and take up fine arts.

I'm writing this because I would like to remember and reignite that passion I once had. Reminding myself how much I love the game and how much it was a part of my life before... I'll definitely get back to playing now.

Time to burn my skin once again...

A Nice Music Technology Blog/Site

For our link for the day, head on over to http://createdigitalmusic.com/

I like this particular site so much I even have it on my tab shortcuts on my browser.

With the sites I frequent and stuff I read, I can say that I try to keep updated as much as I can and this site is one of those that keep me updated with what's happening in the world of music technology. Sometimes, updates can happen the same time I read up on it on some other site but it's always nice to get another perspective on things coming out. The site also has a lot of followers thus creating a nice little community so when you check out one of his posts, read up on the comments section coz you'll pick up a thing or two from other peoples inputs as well.

Enjoy!

God bless
